The cover of James Bone: M (One-Shot) by Declan Shalvey & Jordie Bellaire is decently done. The layout is good, the detail in the bottom segment is pretty sweet. The coloring is very gloomy, like the story held within, but it is also done well – though it is really only obvious in the bottom portion of the cover.

The interior artwork in James Bone: M (One-Shot) by PJ Holden & colored by Dearbhla Kelly was great. I love the whole style and atmosphere that Holden’s & Kelly’s work makes together. The inks and the colors were spot on – good light and shadow representation adds good shape and the inks and color choices add definition and tone. I really enjoyed the artistic presentation.

The storytelling/writing of James Bone: M (One-Shot) by Declan Shalvey was awesome. A really good story that reveals a nice view of M’s building character and the British perspective of the IRA. To some they are murdering, terrorists responsible for a great deal of destruction and loss of life. To the Irish however, they are freedom fighters that just want their home back & are willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish that. This tension is beautifully and craftily displayed in the dialog & narrative of the story. .

The lettering in James Bone: M (One-Shot) by Simon Bowland was very good. Well chosen letter sizes & capitalization choices & font usage. It is also laid out in a very well thought out way – providing perfect direction as well as allowing for artistic expression to be seen.

James Bond’s superior, code-named M, scrambles MI6’s secret agents across the globe. Sometimes, he knowingly sends them to their deaths, for the greater good. But a traumatic event from M’s early days in the field against the IRA returns to haunt him, forcing M to return to the scene of a crime…HIS crime. M must confront & defeat his demons if he is to move on, but will his anger & pride rob him of the chance?
